Ken – Master Stylist/Owner/Creative Director


Ken graduated from Kamloops’ own Interior Academy in 2001.
After completing his education, Ken underwent training with Redken and worked as a Redken Associate for six years, mainly backstage and runway shows. From there Ken decided to return to his roots and family, and made his move back to Kamloops. In 2006 Ken opened the doors of Ra Hair Design, with just one chair and some shampoo. Since then his company has grown to employ over 15 people and has seen a number of changes, most recently, the move from our old downtown location up to Notre Dame Drive. His passion for hair is professed by his insistence of continuously updating his education. Ken and the entire salon attend the Redken Symposium in Vegas, held every other year, as well as monthly in-house education, in the form of color classes, product knowledge, and technical cutting classes. In the past he has worked closely with local photographer, Tyler Meade, and together they have created many award winning looks. Ken’s charities include the SPCA, Angels Dog Rescue in Merritt, and well as many local charities. Chosen by Kamloops Readers Choice for 2 years in a row, there is little wonder why Ken is seldom seen from out behind his cutting chair.
Collette – Senior Stylist

Collette has a knack for creating updated, trendy styles that are easily re-created at home. She specializes in Up-styles and anything Blonde. Collette also stays current by constantly updating her skills through attending tradeshows and technique classes.


Rena – Senior Stylist
Rena has worked for over 22 years, styling hair in the Kamloops area. Rena loves to play with color and try different color placements in hair to really show off the technical aspects of the cut. One of her technical strengths is cutting curly hair, which she loves to do. When she is not behind the chair, she can be found traveling to remote corners of the globe, or having adventures in her kayak.
Bobbi – Senior Stylist
Bobbi has been a stylist for 11 years and specializes in precision and artistic cutting and color. Her love of the industry is evident in the natural and personally designed look she creates for every client, and believes that an in-depth open consultation is the foundation for a great end result. Her inspiration comes anywhere from shapes and textures seen on the runway to color patterns in nature. So whether you want a bold look, or a little enhancement, her styles are sure to get you noticed.
Leslie – Senior Stylist

Great hairdressing skills run in the family here. What draws Leslie to the industry is her love for the evolving trends in fashion, constant change, and reinvention. This goes hand in hand with melding together to capture her clients individuality and creating a look specifically designed for that guest. Leslie is also famous for her round brush blow dry techniques.
Carl – Senior Stylist

Carl has been styling hair for over 20 years. His inspiration is derived from top US educators, such as Dennis Gerbhart and Chris Baran. Carl is Ra’s resident color technician, with his signature styles being very natural and flowing, emphasizing tone on tone color. Carl excels at both technical and free form cutting, with over 20 years experience in the industry.
Ailsa – Senior Stylist
Ailsa has been a certified stylist since 2001, but her love of hair has been inspired from a very young age. Most of her training was in England at the National Hairdressing Federation in Ipswich, where she resided until she was 18. Ailsa then relocated to Kamloops and has been styling hair in the area ever since.
Ailsa specializes in fusions extensions by creating new and dynamic looks. She also loves to experiment with different coloring placements. Ailsa thrives at Ra for a number of reasons, one of which being her love of continuing education. Ken and Ailsa are both looking forward to attending some photoshoot-oriented classes this fall in New York.

Amanda – Junior Stylist

Amanda has recently relocated to Kamloops from Vancouver Island, and excited to see what the future holds. With re-inspired creativity she looks forward to seeing what Kamloops will bring her way. What draws her to the hair industry is the ability to create, change and define each guests personal style.

Cezanne – AFT Laser Technician, Esthetician
In July 2004 Cezanne graduated as a Beauty Therapist from Dominelli International College in Burnaby. In July 2005, Cezanne passed her C.I.D.E.S.C.O. Beauty Therapy Examination, which is an 1820 hour course. C.I.D.E.S.C.O is the world’s prestigious International Diploma qualification in the field of Esthetics. This prepared Cezanne with the knowledge and hands on experience in the Esthetics Industry and the Art of Being a Beauty Therapist. Cezanne has grown as a professional and is well respected and treasured by both clients and employers she has worked with over her past seven years of experience. Cezanne’s knowledge and understanding of client-care and needs captures the essence of Esthetics, therefore fostering an impeccable level of excellence, integrity, creativity and professionalism. All these excellent qualities are carried throughout to her exceptionally high standards in the field of Laser Technology in the Beauty Industry where she achieved her qualifications and diplomas in Hair Removal, Photo-Facials, Acne-Therapy, Skin Disorders, as well as Accent Treatments: Cellulite, and Firming Therapy for both Face and Body, AFT Laser Treatments and Accent Therapy by Alma Lasers and currently uses some of the most Advanced Technology known in the Beauty Industry.
Josh – Esthetician, Co-Owner

Josh’s passion for the industry brings a unique touch to the services that he provides. Josh’s inspiration is derived from the great team surrounding him. Josh graduated from Interior Academy of Esthetics at the top of his class. He invites you as his guest to experience the luxury that you deserve when you enter his little piece of serenity.
Felegan – Nail Technician, Esthetician
Felegan completed her cosmetology education at the Interior Academy here in Kamloops as well as attending Cloverpark Cosmetology in the States. She has been a nail technician for six years, and an esthetician for four. Felegan is very passionate about what she does, with her main goal to make people look good and therefore feel good about themselves. Aside from her time in the salon, Felegan loves to spend time with her family.

FRONT END
Mandy – Manager

As well as managing operations at the salon, Mandy is currently attending TRU, studying the BBA with a major in New Venture Creation and minoring in Finance. Mandy has worked closely with Ken and RA for over seven years, and has since developed a deep passion for the hair industry. Her creative inspiration is sourced from the great team that surrounds her at RA, as well as weekends spent cruising down the slopes at Sun Peaks.
Rebecca – Salon Co-coordinator

Rebecca graduated in 2003 with a diploma in Hospitality and Resort Management. Her previous experience in the fashion industry ranges from her years working as a fashion model throughout Greece and Spain. What draws Rebecca to this industry is the constant evolution of design and runway styles.
Michelle – Lifelong Volunteer

Michelle has been an integral part of Ra Hair Design since inception. Michelle has recently graduated from the Human Service Program at TRU, with aspiration of being employed in social work. Michelle has proven to be a valuable asset to the team, and always has time for a ‘quick’ chat and a cup of coffee. Michelle is well known for her luxurious scalp massages.
